‘Line Of Duty’ star’s BYO Films hires Ink Factory & Various Artists alum to lead development

All3Media-backed Build Your Own (BYO) Films has appointed The Ink Factory’s Natasha Phillips to lead development efforts at the Vicky McClure and Jonny Owen founded UK prodco.

Phillips becomes head of development at BYO Films and will manage the company’s slate of scripted and non-scripted programmes.

She joins following a two year spell as development producer at Little Drummer Girl outfit The Ink Factory, where she worked on TV and film projects, as well as working with emerging writers from diverse backgrounds on new talent initiatives.

Phillips previously spent more than two years as head of development at Various Artists Limited, where she script-edited the BBC’s I May Destroy You, and has also had spells at Channel 4 working on shows such as The Mill, Southcliffe and Utopia.

The hire is the first for BYO Films since All3Media backed the prodco, which was launched by co-CEOs McClure (Line Of Duty, The Replacement) and sports docs expert Owen.

Its slate includes forthcoming ITV drama, Without Sin, which stars McClure, as well as a multi-part period drama, a travel show and a football documentary, with titles yet to be confirmed.

McClure and Owens said Phillips’ “commitment to developing new talent and her deep experience of working with established writers chimed perfectly with our ambitions for BYO.”

Phillips added: “[McClure and Owens’] vision for the company is rooted in excellence, opportunity, and inclusivity. They have brilliant creative and production experience and I’m looking forward to being part of their success story.”
