MagellanTV & Nigel Marven pact

Global documentary streaming service MagellanTV has partnered with veteran travel and wildlife TV presenter, conservationist and author Nigel Marven (Discovery’s Shark Week; BBC’s Chased by Dinosaurs) to produce and star in original content for the platform.

Later this year, MagellanTV and Marven will launch original feature documentary Wild El Salvador – In the Shadow of the Volcano with Nigel Marven, in which Marven explores volcanic Central America, encountering creatures that live in the shadows of legendary infernos. The film will be available exclusively on MagellanTV.

MagellanTV MD Greg Diefenbach commented: “MagellanTV’s members love Nigel Marven. This partnership with Nigel allows us to further our commitment to exciting travel and natural history with a legendary on-camera talent who embodies ‘adventure’ and the spirit of MagellanTV.”

HBO producing ‘BS High’ doc

Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO network is in production on BS High, a documentary chronicling the Bishop Sycamore high school football scandal.

Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe direct the film, which will debut on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max in 2023.

On August 29, 2021, the Bishop Sycamore Centurions, a presumed high school football team from Columbus, Ohio, took on perennial prep powerhouse IMG Academy. The game was nationally televised on ESPN and the Centurions lost 58-0. The blowout caused fans and audiences to question the legitimacy of the Bishop Sycamore program and the activities of now-fired head coach Roy Johnson. However, the final score and a fired head coach turned out to be just the beginning of the story.

The doc is executive produced by Adam McKay and Todd Schulman for Hyperobject Industries, Michael Strahan and Constance Schwartz-Morini’s SMAC Entertainment, Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin and Jack Turner for Boat Rocker’s Matador Content, Alex Mather and Ankur Chawla for The Athletic, and Spencer Paysinger for Moore Street Productions.
