China’s Tencent to adapt ‘The Secret Life of 4 Year Olds’
Streaming giant Tencent has struck a deal that will see The Secret Life Of 4 Year Olds remade in China.
The format was originally produced by RDF Television for Channel 4 and is being adapted into an 8 x 45 minute show in China via local producers Houghton Street Media.
The deal was struck by Banijay Rights, which has also sold its long-running format Don’t Forget The Lyrics! to Forever Group in Myanmar, where it will be broadcast on free-to-air entertainment channel MRTV-4.
The show will be adapted into a 240-episode run for broadcast in 2020.
Samia Moktar, sales manager at Banijay Rights, said: “I’m confident that the local adaptations of Don’t Forget The Lyrics! and The Secret Life Of 4 Year Olds will delight audiences in Myanmar and China, just as much as they have done in Europe and America.
“These modern classics use all the right ingredients to create perfect family entertainment, and that is always universal in its appeal.”
Earlier this year, Japanese broadcaster NHK struck a deal with Banijay Rights to adapt The Secret Life of 4 Year Olds for its free-to-air general channel.
