Former ProSiebenSat.1 programming exec Rüdiger Böss is set to join German production outfit Constantin Film.

Böss has been hired as a producer by Constantin, which is behind TV drama Shadowhunters and the Resident Evil franchise. He will take up the role in November, working on TV and theatrical movies, and joining the management team of Constantin Pictures as an MD.

Böss spent more than 25 years at ProSiebenSat.1 in numerous roles – including most recently exec VP of acquisitions and sales – before leaving at the end of last year.

During this time with the company, he acquired shows including The Big Bang Theory and movies such as The Hunger Games and Four Weddings & A Funeral, dealing with all major US studios.

Martin Moszkowicz, CEO of Constantin Film, said: “Rüdiger Böss will enrich the creative team at Constantin Film with his experience, know-how and passion for content and expand our position in a constantly changing entertainment landscape.”

Böss added: “Being a producer is a new role for me and one that I’m really looking forward to. I’ve often been annoyed about bad movies and series while I’ve been [working] in acquisitions; now I have to prove that I can produce really good ones for Constantin.”
