Michael Jackson’s Halloween coming to TV
LA-based IM Global Television (IMGTV) has picked up rights to animated special Michael Jackson’s Halloween.
The show is a 1x60mins, CGI toon that uses music of legendary singer Jackson’s career. Christina Baranski (The Good Fight), Kiersey Clemons (Justice League), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Alan Cumming (The Good Wife) are among the voice talent.
The special follows a pair of millennials, who meet ‘accidentally’ on Halloween night and find themselves at a mysterious hotel on Jackson Street. The finale features a “spectacular dance” from an animated Michael Jackson.
Optimum Productions, part of the Michael Jackson Estate, created the programme and produced it with animation house Hammerhead.
John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the singer’s estate, are executive producers. Daniel Chuba is producer and Mark A.Z. Dippé is director.
IMGTV previously handled Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off the Wall, a Spike Lee documentary that documented Jackson’s rise from child prodigy to ‘King of Pop’. Jackson died in 2009.
Producer and distributor IMGTV is a joint venture of indie studio IM Global, Chinese on-demand giant Tencent and Tang Media Partners. It struck this latest deal with Optimum.
