Atlantic adds to UK team
Independent producer Atlantic has hired two new execs and promoted another.
Ian Syder (left) has joined the British prodco as head of production and Emily Smith (below right) as director of marketing, while Mike Davis has been upped to associate creative director.
Syder started out in unscripted, working on Big Brother and Deal or No Deal, before moving into docs and working on Life and Spring Watch for the BBC’s Natural History Unit. He has also been production manager at factual indie Off the Fence.
Atlantic said he will work across TV, digital and VR projects in his new role.
Smith will run marketing, commercial partnerships and communications and joins from London’s Natural History Museum.
Atlantic has worked with the museum on projects including a virtual reality experience David Attenborough’s Great Barrier Reef Dive. Her and Syder’s roles are both new at Atlantic.
“Mike, Ian and Emily all have long-running relationships with Atlantic, and they bring a mixture of enthusiasm, expertise and insight to their respective roles which will be invaluable as we embark on further growth as an organisation,” said Atlantic CEO Anthony Geffen.
Davis, meanwhile, has been with Atlantic since 2013 and has worked on shows including the blue-chip series Great Barrier Reef with David Attenborough.
Atlantic makes TV shows, IMAX movies, and digital content and experiences.
It also has its own VR studio, Alchemy.
