Westworld one of three HBO recommissions
Westworld’s stellar season one ratings have lead to the HBO sci-fi/mystery drama getting a second season commission, along with half-hours Divorce and Insecure.
Season one numbers for Westworld, a remake of the 1970s movie of the same name about rogue robots in a futuristic theme park, are tracking ahead of the first runs of Game of Thrones and True Detective.
The season-to-date of the Kilter Films, Bad Robot Productions, Jerry Weintraub Productions and Warner Bros. Television show has amassed a gross audience of 11.7 million viewers.
Sharon Horgan-penned Divorce, meanwhile, is averaging 4.4 million and Insecure, from Issa Rae and Larry Wilmore and about the black female experience, is taking 3.2 million.
The news comes as production this month wraps on an untitled HBO documentary about the life and music of Elvis Presley. Sony Pictures Television is attached as associate producer, working alongside HBO Documentary Films Presentation.
