CBS working up Big Bang Theory prequel
A prequel to The Big Bang Theory is in the works at CBS.
The US broadcast net is developing a prequel to the smash hit comedy that will focus on a young Sheldon Coooper, one of the show’s central characters.
US trade The Hollywood Reporter broke the news, noting that The Big Bang Theory creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady are working up the new show, and showrunner Steve Molaro is also on board.
The comedy is produced by Warner Bros. Television and distributed by the studio’s TV sales arm Warner Bros. International TV Distribution. It has sold extensively around the world and remains popular in many international territories.
The main Big Bang Theory has been on air on CBS since 2007 and is in its tenth season on the US channel. It follows the lives of a bunch of geeky friends. CBS renewed it for three season in 2014, making the current run the show’s last confirmed outing.
