SLR, ZDFE plot Alice-Miranda series

SLR Productions in Australia and Germany’s ZDF Enterprises have allied to create a children’s series.

The pair are attached to develop the 14-part, Australian book series Alice-Miranda as a 26x30mins drama comedy, which will go out on the Nine Network in Australia if it is taken to series. Locally the books have sold 650,000 copies and been published internationally in 80 territories.

The stories follow Alice-Miranda Highton-Smith-Kennington-Jones, who is the youngest girl ever to attend the Winchesterfield-Downsfordvale Academy girls boarding school.

ZDFE, German pubcaster ZDF’s commercial arm, and SLR have previously coproduced series including Lexi & Lottie and Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures, which were both for Network Ten.

SLR optioned the Alice-Miranda titles from Penguin Random House, whose senior rights manager for Australia, Nerrilee Weir, said: “This is a series whose characters and themes will translate perfectly to television and will no doubt bring joy to all its viewers.”
