CBS tracks down UK format Hunted
US broadcast network CBS has commissioned an American version of UK-created format Hunted from distributor Endemol Shine International.
Endemol Shine North America will produce the US show, in which participants attempt to avoid capture while being tracked by world-leading investigators and hunters.
The UK version, which Shine TV produces for terrestrial broadcaster Channel 4, has garnered strong ratings and will have an official international market launch at MIPCOM.
The commission is the first new CBS entertainment chief Glenn Geller has made since succeeding Nina Tassler last month.
“Hunted is a compelling new alternative series format, which our Alternative department had been tracking for a while, that feels tailor made for CBS,” said the CBS Entertainment president. “It combines the suspense of a crime drama with the thrill of a competition reality series and some very topical social issues.”
Scheduling and casting plans will follow, CBS said in a press release.
