History UK catches Freddie Flintoff
Fact-ent-focused History has partnered with British television personality Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff after A+E Networks UK identified the former England cricket player as a fan of the pay TV channel.
Flintoff will become History UK’s first brand ambassador and appear in a six exclusive short films, which prodco The Moment (fka One Two Four) will produce.
History approached the sportsman after noting he would often engage with its content on social messaging service Twitter.
The shorts will appear on History from the end of September, and feature Flintoff talking about his favourite History shows and why he relates to the characters and subject matter.
Flintoff will also take part in a channel take-over stunt this autumn.
“After we spotted Freddie’s enthusiastic tweets about History shows, we were keen to strike up a relationship with him,” said Rachel Job, director of programming for A+E UK-owned History.
“History is all about real people and telling great stories; Freddie is a fantastic raconteur and a fan of our shows and characters; so it is a match made in heaven.”
