Berman prodco pacts with Singled Out’s Auerbach
Gail Berman’s production outfit, The Jackal Group, has entered into a first-look development deal with veteran producer Gary Auerbach, who launched MTV series Laguna Beach and Singled Out.
The pact includes development of scripted and non-scripted programming.
Auerbach was most recently executive VP of NBCUniversal-owned Wilshire Studios, where he was able to sell 35 shows to broadcast and cable networks in the US in a single year.
Prior to that, he had launched Go Go Luckey Entertainment, which was behind the trail-blazing reality format Laguna Beach.
He also oversaw Punk’d and 1990s dating show Singled Out for MTV and Big Deal for Fox.
“Gary has consistently produced memorable and influential television series that redefine audience expectations and we are looking forward to collaborating with him on a new wave of programming,” said Berman, chairman and CEO of The Jackal Group.
Berman’s new company is a co-venture with Fox Networks Group that aims to make premium programming for Fox, FX, FXX, National Geographic Channels and Fox International Channels. Berman (pictured) launched it after exiting her previous firm, BermanBraun, which then rebranded as Whalerock Industries.
