Channel 4, PBS plan more Indian Summers
UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a second season of period drama Indian Summers.
The show, which comes from New Pictures and is a coproduction with PBS in the US, will return for a 10-part second run next year after its recent launch became C4’s biggest drama debut in two decades.
Again set in India in the final days of Britain’s rule over the country, the new season will be set three years after the current run.
“[Creator] Paul Rutman’s unique perspective on the British Raj has lit up Channel 4 on a Sunday night and we’re delighted to be working with New Pictures again to bring viewers the next chapter of this gripping saga,” said C4’s head of drama, Piers Wenger.
All3Media International sells the show on the global market.
