Blue Ant probes Mekong with copro
Canadian broadcaster Blue Ant Media has commissioned Mysteries of the Mekong, a 10x60mins coproduction involving partners from the UK and Denmark.
Factual producer GoodLuck/Green Asia, whose co-owner Peter Ringgaard hails from Denmark will produce the show in association with Leila Monks’ UK indie Antidote Media.
Monks (pictured) will executive produce, with the series representing her first commission since exiting UK indie Zig Zag Productions last year and launching Antidote.
The show will be shot in HD and 4K and is billed as a high-end wildlife series shot along Asia’s 4,500km Mekong River. Two film crews that previously worked on Ringgaard’s Wild Thailand, plus a drone crew will depict life along the river.
“It’s with experienced producers like Peter Ringgaard and Leila Monks that we are able to bring the best wild life programming to our audiences,” said Marcia Martin, senior VP of original content at Blue Ant.
“All shot in 4K, these award-winning producers, will take us on a unique journey of breath-taking vistas and rarely seen wild life of the Mekong region.”
“This deal is exactly the reason why I set Antidote up; to identify opportunities in the market and to work with the best talent in that genre to bring those opportunities to life,” said Monks.
