MIPTV 2014: Sky Vision begins Working the Engels
BSkyB’s in-house distributor Sky Vision is launching NBC and Shaw Media comedy series Working the Engels at MIPTV.
Sky Vision claims the comedy marks the first time US and Canadian broadcasters have worked together on a half-hour network comedy.
The series follows a family of oddballs that has do band together after their patriarchal father passes away. The series stars Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Azura Skye (American Horror Story) and Benjamin Arthur (American Pie: Reunion) star.
It launches on NBC on July 10.
Sky Vision will also be in Cannes with a 50-hour package of content from Asylum Entertainment including Hollywood Hillbillies, an ob doc that chronicles the adventures of a pair of Georgia internet stars who swap their home for life in Hollywood; Treasure King, featuring larger-than-life-collector Richie Marcello who buys and sells valuable treasure; and Mansion Matchmaker, which follows an LA property rental company. All three were produced for ReelzChannel.
Also on the Sky Vision slate is LA Frock Stars, which comes from NHNZ and is for the Smithsonian Channel.
“The scripted and factual entertainment series that lead our MIPTV slate very much represent our core strategy, to build a fantastic primetime catalogue of quality and scale, sourced from Sky and third party producers and broadcasters,” said Sky Vision’s managing director Jane Millichip (above).
