Ciwen to sell Zodiak Kids fare in China

China’s Ciwen Media Group will represent more than 390 episodes from the Zodiak Kids catalogue in China.

Zodiak has granted Ciwen exclusive distribution rights to programming from Zodiak Media’s French studios Marathon Media and Tele Images and The Illuminated Film Company.

From Marathon comes Totally Spies, The Amazing Spiez and Rekkit Rabbit, and from Tele Images are Extreme Football, The Ranch and The Basketeers

Illuminated Film Company’s Little Princess is also included in the deal.

Ciwen will act as agent on behalf of Zodiak Kids and broker deals across free TV, cable and satellite broadcasters as well as home entertainment and VOD platforms throughout China and Macau as well as VOD platforms in Hong Kong. Programming will be dubbed into Mandarin and other regional languages.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for us to be strategic about how we introduce Zodiak Kids content to China, and gain a deeper understanding of how to distribute content across multiple platforms in this unique marketplace,” said Zodiak Kids senior VP, global sales and coproduction.

“We are implementing a comprehensive plan for distribution of animation across China through the traditional channels such as broadcast, DVDs, print, publishing, toys, apparel and accessories, but also through emerging digital platforms such as internet TV, OTT, e-publishing and content for mobile devices and tablets,” added Ciwen Kids VP Sean Chu.
