TNT axes summer procedural despite ratings
US cable channel TNT has cancelled King & Maxwell, its new summer drama procedural, despite solid ratings.
The show, which comes from CBS Television Studios and Shane Brennan Productions, had out-rated other new scripted summer cable series such as Syfy’s Defiance and Lifetime’s Devious Maids, but is still hitting the scrap heap.
King & Maxwell follows Jon Tenney and Rebecca Romijn as former secret service agents turned private detectives.
The news comes just days after Turner Broadcasting-owned TNT ordered Murder in the First, a 10-part drama following a cop unit working on a single murder case, from its production division, TNT Originals.
