Heggessey’s Boom hires UKTV’s Tess Cuming

Fledgling indie production group Boomerang has recruited Tess Cuming as its first head of factual entertainment and features.

Cuming joins from channels group UKTV where she was senior commissioning editor.

Boomerang is part of Boom Pictures, the UK indie created last year by former BBC1 controller Lorraine Heggessey. Last week it said it was providing funding for a new production firm, Mainstreet Films.

Cuming will be responsible for building and diversifying Boomerang’s factual entertainment and features slate and will be based in the Cardiff office.

Gareth Rees, managing director, Boomerang said: “Having someone of Tess’ calibre join the Boomerang team marks an important step for the company as we continue to build our factual entertainment and features division. Tess’s valuable experience on both the broadcast and production side will prove invaluable as we look to expand and diversify.”

Prior to her twelve-year stint at UKTV, Cuming worked at TV companies including North One and Endemol.
