The CW cancels Emily Owens, MD
US network The CW has cancelled medical drama Emily Owens, MD.
The youth skewing broadcaster will air the remaining episodes of the 13-episode order but will not order any additional episodes.
This comes after The CW ordered full seasons of cop drama Beauty and The Beast and superhero series Arrow.
Emily Owens, MD is produced by CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros Television and is distributed internationally by CBS Studios International, which has sold it to networks including Canada’s CTV and Australia’s Network Ten. It follows Owens, played by Mamie Gummer, as a first year intern at Denver Memorial Hospital, who has to deal with her high school nemesis and med-school crush.
The pilot recorded 1.67 million viewers when it launched in October, but the ratings dropped for the following episodes with the sixth ep, which aired on November 27, receiving just over 1 million viewers.
