Shawn Ryan to remake Beverly Hills Cop
Beverly Hills Cop is set to be remade for the small screen after Eddie Murphy partnered with The Shield creator Shawn Ryan to pitch the series.
The remake is being shopped to US broadcast networks as part of the 2012/13 development season and follows the son of Murphy’s Detroit detective Axel Foley in Los Angeles.
The series is being written by Ryan, who is currently working on ABC drama Last Resort, and is produced by Sony Pictures Television, where Ryan has a deal.
Ryan, who is also working on the Troubleshooter pilot for TNT with Gregg Hurwitz, told TBI this week that his plan is always to have a number of series in development, both for cable and broadcast and he likes to partner with writers to make this happen. “I want to have two or three,” he said.
