Sky hires Phil Edgar Jones as entertainment chief
Former Big Brother executive producer Phil Edgar Jones has joined British pay broadcaster Sky as head of entertainment.
This comes weeks after he left John Noel’s indie Running Bare, where he was creative director.
It also follows the departure of Sky’s head of entertainment commissioning Duncan Gray, who is leaving the News Corp-backed pay network to join Shine-owned producer Princess Productions.
Edgar Jones is best known as creative director of Endemol-owned Remarkable Pictures, which produced Channel 4’s Big Brother, where he exec produced the show from its second season in 2001 until his departure in 2010.
He will be in charge of all existing entertainment series in production at Sky 1, Sky Living, Sky Atlantic, Sky Arts and Sky Movies as well as looking for new commissions.
The appointment was made by Stuart Murphy, director, Sky 1 HD and director of commissioning at Sky, who is also looking for a head of factual entertainment to replace Mark Sammon, who is launching his own indie.
