A+E Network closes Asian deals
A+E Networks, the international distribution arm of the US cable broadcaster, has sold more than 700 hours of programming into Asia ahead of the Asia Television Forum.
The distributor has closed volume deals in South Korea, China, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and Australia ahead of the market, which runs from the 7 to 9 December in Singapore.
Chinese state broadcaster CCTV 15 has acquired doc series Ancient Discoveries and Four Heavenly Kings, while Japan’s Nippon TV has picked up Seriously Funny Kids and Most Extreme Airports.
It has closed a number of deals in South Korea including CJ Media buying Seriously Funny Kids, Skylife picking up The Universe in 3D and KBS acquiring America: The Story of US.
Thai broadcaster True Vision has bought Seriously Funny Kids, Jersey Cheer, Fairy Jobmother, Coming Home, and a volume package of the Biography series, which includes George Clooney and Tom Cruise. Thai PBS has also picked up Seven Wonders of the Solar System, Hidden Cities, and Underwater Universe, along with Biography episodes of Madame Mao, Mahathir, Ho Chi Minh and Junichiro Koizumi.
In the Philippines, ABS – CBN has licensed Glamour Belles and Seriously Funny Kids, while GMA has picked up a number of Biography episodes.
