Abrams teams with RTL, Telefonica to launch company

Lost creator JJ Abrams has teamed with RTL Group, Telefonica and Hasbro to launch an international production and distribution company FactoryMade.

The new company has been set up by former William Morris Endeavor agent John Fogelman and is described as a “hybrid entertainment media business development and consulting firm”.

It will partner with creative talent and companies to develop and deliver content across multiple platforms worldwide, initially targeting Latin America and the US Hispanic markets. It will create project for digital and mobile platforms as well as cable and broadcast networks in Brazil, Peru and Colombia.

Abrams, who also directed Star Trek and created series including Alias and Fringe, will work with creatives including Transformers director Michael Bay, Robert Rodriguez, Thom Beers and Whoopi Goldberg. Abrams is an investor in the company.

“We recognize the characteristics of the constantly changing media landscape that continue to shift our view of entertainment,” said Fogelman, CEO of FactoryMade Ventures.  “We welcome the industry’s most imaginative and inventive minds to strategize new ventures with us and build them into fully fledged media businesses.”
