Showtime orders three new pilots
US cable network Showtime has ordered three new pilots as part of new boss David Nevins’ first programming slate.
Former Imagine Television president Nevins was appointed as president, entertainment at the premium cable broadcaster in June 2010, replacing Robert Greenblatt, who joined NBC.
Showtime has greenlit three pilots; one-hour drama Masters of Sex, dark drama Ray Donovan and half-hour comedy Gurland on Gurland.
Gurland on Gurland was created by The Last Exorcism’s Andrew Gurland and follows Gurland’s eponymous character as he attempts to grow up. It is produced by CBS Television Studios and exec produced by Medium’s Glenn Gordon Caron.
Masters of Sex is based on the relationship between sex educational researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson. It was written by The Pacific’s Michelle Ashford and is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
Finally, Ray Donovan, which was created by Southland’s Ann Biderman, centres around a fixer for the rich and famous from Los Angeles. It is exec produced by Grey’s Anatomy’s Mark Gordon.
