Julian Fellowes’ four-part drama Titanic, which is a British, Hungarian and Canadian coproduction that has also been picked up by US network ABC, has been green lit.
The drama series, which is distributed by ITV Studios Global Entertainment, has also been acquired by a raft of international broadcasters.
The series, which is being produced as a 4x1hr miniseries as well as a 2x90mins version, is produced by ITV Studios, British producer and financier Lookout Point, Canadian production company Sienna Films and Hungary’s Mid Atlantic Films. It is written by Julian Fellowes, the screenwriter behind Downton Abbey and Gosford Park.
Titanic has subsequently been sold to international broadcasters including ABC (US), Global (Canada), Channel Seven (Australia), SVT (Sweden), TVNZ (New Zealand), TV3 (Ireland) and SIC (Portugal).
Maria Kyriacou, MD, ITV Studios Global Entertainment said: “The fantastic pedigree of the production talent behind this major series has generated huge interest from our global broadcast clients and we are very pleased to announce these new partners today. Providing a vividly different experience of the ship’s last hours alongside a definitive snapshot of what was a unique and uncertain moment in history – Titanic promises to be the must-see original drama for this landmark centenary anniversary and gripping primetime content for audiences around the world.”
