MarVista sells new Power Rangers into France
MarVista Entertainment has sold free and pay TV rights to the Power Rangers Samurai series to Lagardère Active, which will air it on kids channels Canal J and Gulli.
The half-hour series is produced by Haim Saban’s Saban Brands and Power Rangers Productions. It will debut next month on French screens on pay TV channel Canal J and later in the year on free-to-air digital terrestrial station Gulli.
MarVista handles worldwide sales for the latest iteration of the classic Power Rangers franchise, which airs on Nickelodeon in the US.
“Power Rangers has always been enormously popular in the French territory and we are delighted that the series will debut this coming April on Canal J to existing and new fans of the franchise,” says MarVista CEO, Fernando Szew.
Power Rangers was acquired by Disney as part of the Fox Family deal, before Saban bought it back and launched a reinvigorated version of the show.
Other broadcasters that have picked up the new series include Teletoon in Canada, Televisa in Mexico.
