ITV orders Penn and Teller show fronted by Jonathan Ross
UK broadcaster ITV has ordered Penn & Teller; Fool Us, an entertainment series featuring the eponymous magicians that will be fronted by UK presenter Jonathan Ross.
Ross inked a development deal with Endemol last week, but this series will be produced by UK indie DCD Media’s September Films/117 Production, and marks the presenter’s first show since his high-profile departure from the BBC earlier this year.
The 1x90mins show challenges aspiring magicians to perform their most mystifying tricks to fool Penn and Teller. If they succeed in fooling the audience and the magicians, they win a trip to Vegas to open Penn & Teller’s casino show.
The show was commissioned by John Kaye Cooper, controller of entertainment at ITV. Cooper says: “This exciting new format gives talented magicians the chance of a lifetime to open for headliners Penn & Teller in Las Vegas. Together with Jonathan Ross it makes terrific talk about TV and the ideal show for all the family to enjoy.”
