France extends tax credit
International television and film producers will get back 20% of the cost of their productions if they shoot in France after the country introduced a new tax credit.
The French Parliament agreed earlier this month to extend its domestic tax credit to international producers, including documentary filmmakers, drama producers and animation producers. Filming must take place over at least five days and the budget must be at least Euro1 million (US$1.3 million) to qualify.
The tax credit has been extended to encourage producers to shoot in France, shunning cheaper Eastern European countries.
