MTV’s HD channel to hit the UK, Lat-Am

MTV Networks International has announced a second wave of launches for its new high-def channel including the UK and most of Latin America.

The channel, MTVNHD, launched last September in Poland and Scandinavia. The rollout has now been extended to the UK, where it will bow on the BSkyB pay TV service, Israel, where it will be carried on Hot’s cable system and across Latin America where it will be on DirecTV Panamericana.

It will launch on these platforms before end-2008. The channel also rolled out in France and Sweden last month.

The new carriage agreements will take the number of territories in which the channel is distributed to seventeen.

Headquartered in Warsaw, MTVNHD is programmed from three main programming hubs; Poland, Italy and Latin America.
