RDF seals deals for Fritzl doc Secrets of the Cellar
The distribution arm of UK super-indie RDF has sealed a raft of presales for Secrets of the Cellar, a one-off doc about Josef Fritzl, the Austrian man who, for over twenty years, imprisoned several members of his immediate family.
The Blakeway-produced show goes out on Channel 4 in the UK tonight (May 21) as part of the broadcaster’s Cutting Edge documentary strand. RDF has presold the show to Cuatro in Spain SBS in the Netherlands, SIC in Portugal, YLE in Finland, VTM in Belgium and GNT a Globosat channel in Brazil.
RDF said there is huge interest in the doc and that it is negotiating several other deals.
Victoria Mugliston, RDF Rights acquisitions executive said: “This story has shocked the world, and it is important people know the facts. Blakeway is a first-class production company that understands the importance of well-sourced and well-told new stories.”
