Channel 4 has outlined a blueprint for its future, which includes a commitment to airing more new programmes in primetime than any other UK public service broadcaster; broadcasting one new documentary in peak viewing time every weekday; and establishing a £10 million ($20.4 million) fund for developing pilot shows targeting 10-to-15-year-olds.
The UK broadcaster also detailed its new digital strategy and is launching a £50 million creative fund for digital projects. It will launch The Four Innovation for the Public (4IP) fund this July and has committed £20 million of funding with the remainder coming from third party agencies.
Channel 4 said it wants to work with production companies and individuals and deliver "publicly valuable content and services on all digital media platforms."
The fund is developing a number of projects including one with site Bebo that will seek to reinvent news and current affairs for a social networking demographic.
