NBC poaches Lionsgate drama exec
US broadcast network NBC has poached Cara Dellaverson from Lionsgate Entertainment to become its senior VP, drama development.
At Lionsgate, she was SVP, television development and currently programming, overseeing the launch of ABC’s Nashville and Netflix’s Orange is the New Black (pictured).
At NBC, she will report to executive VP, drama development Pearlena Igbokwe. The pair worked together on Lionsagte-produced comedy Nurse Jackie, when Igbokwe was at premium cable channel Showtime.
“Cara’s knack for finding fresh and unique stories that resonate with audiences is evident through her success with series such as Nashville and Orange is the New Black, and we are thrilled that she will be bringing that passion to NBC,” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.
Dellaverson will work alongside Kahli Small, who keeps her post as SVP, drama development.
Before Lionsgate, Dellaverson produced unscripted show such a Date My Mom for MTV.
