3DD picks up Died Young Stayed Pretty

Music and factual entertainment distributor 3DD has acquired the international television rights to Died Young Stayed Pretty, a rock poster doc produced by Iranian-born Canadian filmmaker Eileen Yaghoobian.

The 1x90min documentary follows the burgeoning world of rock posters, a cottage industry that has developed into one of America’s leading underground art movements.

3DD, which is run by chief executive Dominic Saville, is now in the process of shopping the feature to international broadcasters. The deal was brokered by acquisitions and programming manager Sarah Lawless.

The doc had already been picked up by Canadian broadcaster Super Channel, which plans to air it in August.

Yaghoobian, who runs Norotomo Productions: “Although I have enough footage for four docs I went with one story. My movie is about the community. For me, I’ve broken a lot of documentary structures but the movie is like one big poster.”
