Japan’s WOWOW buys Peep Show

Japanese commercial broadcaster WOWOW has inked a deal with distributor C4i to acquire the first three seasons of British comedy Peep Show.

The broadcaster is set to launch the series later this year.

C4i, which is owned by the Digital Rights Group, has also sold the show to a range of international broadcasters including Russia 2×2, FX Asia and Sweden’s TV4.

The show, which is currently in its sixth season for Channel 4, is produced by All3Media-owned indie Objective Productions and is written by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain. It follows two twenty something guys living in South London through point of view cameras.

A US version is also currently in development for Viacom-owned broadcaster Spike TV produced by RDF USA-owned producer Pangea.
