Nordic’s Viaplay partners with Prime Video Channels in US

Nordic streamer Viaplay has launched a new US-focused service via Amazon’s Prime Video Channels, having aborted its dedicated streamer in the country.

Viaplay Content Distribution is operating the Viaplay channel as an add-on subscription on Prime Video Channels, costing $5.99 a month.

It provides access to thousands of hours of Nordic and European shows, including Furia, Face To Face, Fenris, Trom and Black Sands, as well as all three films from the Millennium/The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy.

Young adult series are also being made available, such as Threesome and Delete Me, as well as documentaries including The Most Remote Restaurant In The World.

Viaplay closed its streamer in North America earlier this year and instead shifted to providing access via partnerships with platforms such as Comcast Xfinity, The Roku Channel and Xumo.

Vanda Rapti, Viaplay Group EVP Viaplay Select & Content Distribution, said the roll-out on Prime Video Channels “shows the universal appeal of high-quality Nordic and European content and will make these titles more accessible to viewers across the United States than ever before…”
