NBC doubles down on Will & Grace

NBC has ordered new episodes of Will & Grace, and renewed it for a second second  before the first has even gone out.

The New York-set comedy show, which was originally picked up in January, was initially created as a ten-episode limited installment. It will now become a 16-episode series.

The new season airs on Thursday September 28.

Furthermore, it was announced at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that the revival has already been renewed for a 13-episode second season ahead of the show’s initial return.

The revival will see the return of Debra Messing, Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes. Its creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick will return as showrunners.

They will be joined by executive producer James Burrows, Alex Herschlag, Tracy Poust, Jon Kinnally and Tim Kaiser. Will & Grace will be produced in-house at Universal Television, which is part of NBC parent NBCUniversal.

Will & Grace joins a handful of returning shows. Fox is working on another revival of Arrested Development for Netflix, HBO has brought back Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Deadline has reported that NBC is considering a return of The Office.
