Boat Rocker buys Peace Point Rights

Toronto’s Boat Rocker Media continues to buy up compatriot companies, this time acquiring Peace Point Rights through its distribution arm.

Jon RutherfordHaving acquired kids company Jam Filled Entertainment, a stake in Industrial Brothers, and the catalogue of Mountain Road Productions, the Canadian firm has added the sales arm of Peace Point Entertainment to its ranks.

The agreement, financial terms of which were not disclosed, includes a first-look at Peace Point productions for multiple years going forwards. Initially, it secures Boat Rocker Rights 40 programmes comprising 600 hours of in-house and third party content, mainly in the lifestyle and factual series and specials.

Key titles added to the catalogue are baking series Bake with Anna Olson, unscripted renovation comedy series Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure and Keasha’s Perfect Dress, which features Keasha Rigsby from Say Yes to the Dress.

Boat Rocker has made a significant impact on the Canadian TV market after it came into being as an expanded Temple Street Productions, which had been acquired by Fairfax Financial.

“We’re excited to align Boat Rocker Rights with Peace Point’s accomplished distribution operation,” said Boat Rocker Rights president Jon Rutherford. “Les Tomlin and his team have been consistently producing successful, globally accessible content for over 15 years.

“In addition, Peace Point has built strong distribution partnerships with a wide variety of content producers, and we look forward to working closely with each party and strategically representing their programs moving forward. These additions round out Boat Rocker’s factual content library significantly, and the new partnership on Peace Point’s upcoming productions will continue this pipeline into the future.”

Peace Point president Tomlin said the deal meant the firm was “furthering the reach” of its brands.
