Svensk Filmindustri rebrands as SF

Svensk Filmindustri, one of Europe’s oldest film and television studios, has rebranded as SF Studios.

Jonas ForsThe company launched in 1919 and as such has a huge library of Nordic titles.

SF became part of Bonnier Growth Media in 2012, and has recently focused on restructuring operations to suit market demands.

On the digital front it recently launched children’s content SVOD service SF Kids.

“Rebranding Svensk Filmindustri to SF Studios is more than just cosmetics,” said Jonas Fors, CEO of SF Studios (pictured). “Svensk Filmindustri is a complicated name to communicate outside the Nordics.

“In the US and Europe they simply call us ‘Svensk’, which just means ‘Swedish’. We are in fact a Nordic company with affiliations in Norway, Denmark and Finland. SF Studios reflects more of who we are, and is more important as we internationalise as a company.”

SF’s parent, Bonnier, recently restructured its Swedish television arm, TV4 Group, and pay TV division C More under the Bonnier Broadcasting umbrella.
