Restructured Ten Alps becoming Zinc

UK-based TV production group Ten Alps is rebranding as Zinc Media.

The individual prodcos in the group – Blakeway, Brook Lapping, Films of Record and Reef Television – will retain their individual identities, but Zinc will be the overarching parent brand as of March 1.

Officials said the company has rebranded in the wake of its restructuring last year. The company recapitalised in a process that saw singer Bob Geldof, who founded the company in 1999, exit and former Channel 4 chairman chairman Luke Johnson come in.

“The name change is an important milestone in the reorganisation and transformation of Ten Alps and is an opportunity to redefine the identity and ambition of the company,” said chief executive Mark Wood.

“This is now an exciting and dynamic media organisation which is focussed on growing as a global TV producer, communications and branded content business and a cross-platform publisher.”

Ten Alps will remain the name of the production group’s holding company and on its UK stock market listing, although Zinc becomes the operational brand on a day-to-day basis.

The company said it will change the holding group and stock market listing details, but both need shareholder approval.

Ten Alps, in its current guise until tomorrow, completed its financial restructuring last July, when it added another UK indie to the group in the form of Reef Television.
