CBS pilots Training Day reboot

Scripted-logo-460_2US broadcaster CBS is to pilot a reworking of Antoine Fuqua’s 2001 feature film Training Day, as the Eye Network continues to look to movies for series inspiration.

The project has a pilot production commitment, with Fuqua and his Fuqua Films imprint, writer Will Beall, Jerry Bruckheimer Television and Warner Bros. Television all attached.

The original film followed Denzel Washington as a rogue drugs detective who takes rookie Ethan Hawke under his wing.

This season, CBS is debuting a pair of feature film reboots, Limitless and Rush Hour. Limitless has already scored well in the ratings, with Rush Hour premiering soon.

Fuqua will executive produce Training Day and will direct the pilot, with Beall writing. Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman will also executive produce, with KristieAnne Reed co-executive producing.

Pilot season is well under way in the US, with all of the broadcast networks putting new comedies and dramas to the test in recent weeks.
