Starz debuting new series online ahead of linear

Screen Shot 2015-11-03 at 11.05.02US premium channel operator Starz will launch the debut episode of its upcoming drama series Flesh and Bone ahead of its premiere on its linear cable net.

The first episode of the series will launch on Starz.com and EW.com, as well as via the Starz On Demand and Starz Play digital services on November 2. The linear series then commences on Starz in a 9pm slot on Sunday, November 8.

Flesh and Bone follows Claire (Black Swan’s Sarah Hay), a young dancer with a troubled past as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. The show was created by Breaking Bad writer and exec producer Moira Walley-Beckett.

Starz is experimenting with different distribution models. It will follow a Netflix model and make all instalment of several of its new series available to stream simultaneously, allowing its subs to binge ahead of the linear transmission.
