Ex-Sky Italia exec to replace Fox Italy boss

Fox International Channels Italy has appointed a new managing director, with incumbent Fabrizio Salini (pictured) leaving “to pursue a new opportunity”.

Fabrizio SaliniFormer Sky Italia head of programming Kathryn Fink has been named as Salini’s replacement, and will take up the post on January 1, 2016 as her predecessor exits.

Salini was VP, entertainment channels at FIC Italy between 2003 and 2011. He later left to join FIC Italy cousin Sky Italia, before moving to then-emerging channels group Switchover Media, which was then acquired by Discovery Communications.

He rejoined FIC Italy, which is part of the wider Fox International Channels group, in 2014 as managing director.

“Fabrizio has played a key role during the launch and growth of FIC Italy,” said Diego Londoño, COO Fox International Channels in Europe & Africa. “It’s with the greatest respect that I thank him for all he has done and wish him the best for the future.”

No details of Salini’s new role were forthcoming at press time.

His replacement Fink worked at Sky Italia from launch, initially on the merger of pay TV platforms Stream and Telepiu, which created the 21st Century Fox-backed pay TV business.

She subsequently became head of programming and oversaw all third-party channels, as well as Sky’s owned-and-operated cinema and entertainment networks.

The Australian-born executive left in 2010 to take on an advisory role at 21st Century predecessor News Corp., where she had begun her career down under. Andrea Scrosati, now Sky Italia’s executive VP of programming, cinema and news, was made VP of programming, promotions and film acquisitions at the same time.

“I have always held Kathryn in high regard and she has both the skills and local knowledge to continue to drive the growth of FIC in Italy,” said Jan Koeppen, president and CEO of FIC, Europe and Africa.

Sky Italia became part of the wider 21st Century Fox-backed Sky group last November, a move that created Europe’s largest content investor by scale.
