DramaFever gets first fully-owned original

Korean entertainment platform DramaFever has gone deeper into the original production game.

sukThe free and subscription VOD service has commissioned a documentary charting the US tour of a major Korean pop band, Bigbang.

Bigbang: Made 2015 Concert debuts on November 11 and marks the first fully-original programme for DramaFever, which has previously coproduced drama series Heirs with Hwa and Dam Pictures and Tomorrow’s Cantabile with Group 8.

“The ability for music to cross barriers and transcend culture is undeniable,” said Suk Park (pictured), president of DramaFever.

“It’s one of the reasons K-pop has become a global phenomenon. As one of the biggest and most unique acts, Bigbang has set itself apart as the vanguard of the genre. This is why the Bigbang: Made 2015 Concert is our first foray into original programming.”

Live music director Mark Haney is behind the doc, which follows the group as they tour Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New Jersey.

DramaFever is available in Asia, Europe and the Americas. The six-year-old company was acquired by a subsidiary of Japanese e-commerce giant SoftBank, SoftBank Internet and Media 12 months ago.
