E4 welcomes Scream Queens

FFewScreamQueens_Pilot101-MsBeansKitchen_0131_f_hires2Horror-cum-black comedy Scream Queens is to broadcaster on UK youth-skewing network E4.

The net’s parent, Channel 4, has acquired the Fox show from 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, and will play it this autumn.

Scream Queens opened to muted ratings this month, overshined by ABC’s Muppets reboot and CBS drama Limitless in the battle of new season debutantes.

It went day-and-date on Fox International Channels, along with the second season of Empire, which debuted yesterday Stateside.

The whodunit show comes from Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) and his Ryan Murphy Television imprint, Brad Falchuk (Glee, American Horror Story) and his Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision prodco and Ian Brennan (Glee), and stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Lea Michele, and singer Ariana Grande. 20th Century Fox Television is an associate producer.

The plot follows a series of killings at an elite university sorority, with every character the potential killer or next victim.

It has also sold to Australia’s Network Ten, which plays it on sister channel Eleven.
