Corus rejigs leadership team

Doug MurphyCanadian media firm Corus has restructured its senior management team.

Corus runs a host of specialty channels including YTV, Teletoon and HBO Canada as well as Nelvana, the kids producer and distributor.

Colin Bohm will be executive VP and head of Corus Kids in the restructured senior team, running the YTV, Nickelodeon, Teletoon and Treehouse channels. He will also be in charge of Nelvana.

Scott Dyer becomes executive VP, chief technology officer and president of Nelvana. He is returning to Nelvana after a stint overseeing the construction of Corus’ new Toronoto HQ.

Maria Hale takes the executive VP and head of content distribution and pay TV role and John MacDonald, executive VP, head of Corus Women and Family, with responsibility for channels including W Network, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Sundance Channel and ABC Spark.

All of the EVPs report to president and CEO Doug Murphy (pictured). He said: “With the deep bench strength of our Executive Leadership Team, a clear vision and strong plan in place, we are focused on the successful execution of our strategic priorities as we evolve the company to meet consumers’ needs in a highly-dynamic and competitive marketplace,”

He added: “In July, our Board of Directors approved Corus’ Strategic Plan and the executive leadership team will execute upon this clear strategic framework to return the company to growth in the coming years.”
