AMC Global takes eOne’s Badlands

Bruce-Tuchman-002AMC will have first-window rights to upcoming US martial arts drama Into the Badlands.

The show is being produced by AMC Studios for the AMC channel in the US.

Entertainment One sells AMC’s drama internationally and the global AMC channels have now bought it for their services.

The 6x1hr show will go out on AMC Global in a first window and episodes will be available within 24 hours of their launch on AMC in the US.

Into the Badlands is expected to launch as part of AMC’s fall schedule.

Inspired by Chinese folklore, the series tells the story of a warrior and a young boy who embark on a journey across feudal China in search of enlightenment.

AMC Global has increasingly moved for international rights to shows that go out on the US cable channel. It recently secured Fear the Walking Dead, the companion series to The Walking Dead, and will launch it around the world later this year.

Bruce Tuchman (pictured), president, AMC and Sundance Channel Global, said: “We think Into the Badlands and Fear the Walking Dead will complement each other perfectly as we continue to grow our global footprint and support our pay-TV platform partners in expanding their subscriber base.”
