Amazon secures long-term AMC drama deal

On-demand platform Amazon Prime Instant Video has secured an exclusive multi-year agreement for original series coming from US channels AMC and SundanceTV.

The deal with distributor Entertainment One will cover the UK and Germany, where Amazon Prime subscribers will get first-run access to the programming.

Initially covered in the deal are the 20x60mins computing boom drama Halt & Catch Fire (pictured), 20x60mins American independence series Turn and 12x60mins cop drama The Red Road.

Upcoming and future scripted series such as AMC’s straight-to-series martial arts drama Badlands will be made available the day after their US broadcast.

eOne has sold AMC Networks’ scripted fare since September 2013.
