Leckie resigns from Seven board

Australian TV programming veteran David Leckie has resigned from Seven West Media, the parent of Network Seven.

Leckie has also stepped down from the board of Seven Group Holdings, the Stokes family’s group that owns a 35% majority shareholding in SWM.

However, he has signed a new multi-year consultancy agreement, having already been filling a similar role for the past two years.

He said: “Seven has been and continues to be an important part of my life. I am pleased to commit to a new consulting agreement for Seven West Media Limited and Seven Group Holdings Limited.

“It’s an agreement that allows me to make a strong contribution to both businesses and also allows me to be fit and healthy.”

SGH executive chairman Kerry Stokes added he was “delighted David will continue to play an important role in both companies. His track record of success is well-documented and our management teams continue to work closely with him in his consulting role”.

Leckie was CEO of Seven until June 2012, when Don Voelte succeeded him at SWM. Prior to Seven, he worked at rival Nine Network for 23 years in roles including managing director and CEO.
