FremantleMedia poaches legal chief from BBC Worldwide

Robin_ChalmersRTL-owned producer and distributor FremantleMedia has hired Robin Chalmers as its general counsel.

Chalmers will join from BBC Worldwide and replace Sarah Tingay who is retiring after a 27-year stint.

He was at Worldwide for a decade as director of business & legal affairs. At FremantleMedia he will work across all of the company’s businesses around the world and have responsibility for protecting its intellectual property.

The new hire will join FremantlemMedia this autumn and report to COO/CFO Sangeeta Desai, who joined the company from Hit Entertainment last year.

She said: “Robin brings extensive international experience, having worked across diverse operations in Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America. He combines expertise in the media sector – working across production, distribution, channel networks, home entertainment, advertising sales and digital platforms – with strong experience in corporate transactional activity such as M&A and joint ventures.”
