Amazon sets global launch dates for original kids series

Tumble_Leaf1Amazon has announced the roll out plans in the US and UK for its first slate of original kids series.

A trio of Amazon Studios original kids shows – Tumble Leaf (pictured), Creative Galaxy and Annedroids – will launch using a semi ‘binge-viewing’ model. The first six episodes of each series will be launched simultaneously with the remaining instalments following at an unspecified date later in the year.

The shows will launch on the same dates in the US and the UK on the Prime instant Video streaming service (fka Lovefilm in the UK).

Tumbleleaf will be first out of the gate on May 23 with Creative Galaxy following on June 27 and the only live-action offering of the three, Annedriods, launching on July 25.

Tumbleleaf is a preschool show about Fig the Fox and his best friend Stick as they discover adventure and friendship. It was created by Bix Pix Entertainment.

Creative Galaxy, also for preschoolers, is from Blue’s Clues creator Angela Santomero, and is a crafts and make-along series led by Arty and Epiphany who travel the world using art to solve problems. A live-action piece at the end of each animated episode takes viewers through the project that Arty showcased.

Annedroids is skewed to kids 4-to-7 and follows a young female genius, her human friends, android assistants as they make scientific discoveries. Canadian indie Sinking Ship and JJ Johnson (Dino Dan) created the show.

“We’re working with some of the most renowned creators in the business to introduce programming that promotes life-long learning through play,” said Tara Sorensen, head of kids programming at Amazon Studios. “We can’t wait to share it with kids and their families across the country and see the learning experiences it fosters.”
